History of Fort Saint-Jean Museum
Creation of the Fort Saint-Jean Museum
1965 - 2005
The museum was created in 1965, when the artefacts and documents collection recounting Fort Saint-Jean area’s military past was moved from the library to the old guard house built in the 19th century by the Royal Engineers.
Moving to the former protestant chapel
2006 - april 2012
Since there was not enough space in the old guard house to adequately display the collection and receive visitors, the former protestant chapel was converted into a museum in 2006 and the collection was moved over there. The official opening took place on March 29th, 2006, when LGen(ret.) and Senator Roméo A. Dallaire cut the ribbon.
The museum relocated in the historical pavilion «les Forges»
